Dose by age only if the child’s weight is unknown. Children’s Motrin provides temporary relief of fever, chills, and minor aches and pain due to the common cold, flu, headache, toothache, earache, sore throat, and sprains and strains in children between the ages of 2 and 11.

Children’s Motrin is available as a chewable tablet or oral suspension: Children’s Motrin Oral Suspension comes with a 15 ml cup with six marks for measuring the correct dose of medicine. Children’s Motrin contains half the dose (100 mg) of adult-strength Motrin (200 mg) and is suitable for children between the ages of 2 and 11 years.
How do I find the right dose of Motrin® for my child?
Use these charts to find the right dose of Children’s MOTRIN® or Infants’ MOTRIN® for your child. When giving any medicine, always read and follow the label carefully. Find right dose on chart. If possible, use weight to dose; otherwise, use age. Only use the dosing device provided with the medicine. Do not use any other dosing device.
How do you take children's Motrin?
Take Children's Motrin with food or milk to lessen stomach upset. Shake the oral suspension (liquid) before you measure a dose. Use the dosing syringe provided, or use a medicine dose-measuring device (not a kitchen spoon). You must chew the chewable tablet before you swallow it. Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
What if I miss a dose of children's Motrin (Ibuprofen suspension)?
If you take Children's Motrin (ibuprofen suspension) on a regular basis, take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.
