What Is Denavir? Denavir (penciclovir cream) is an antiviral medication used topically (on the skin) for the treatment of recurrent cold sores. What Are Side Effects of Denavir?

Do not take by mouth. Topical medicine is for use only on the lips and face. If this medicine gets in your nose or mouth, rinse with water. Denavir should be used to treat cold sores on the lips and face only.

Is Denavir a cure for cold sores?

Denavir is a prescription cream used to treat cold sores on the lips that are caused by the herpes simplex virus. This medicine is for adults and children who are at least 12 years old. Denavir is not a cure for cold sores and you may continue to have them in the future. Do not apply the cream to the inside of the nose or in or near the eyes.

Is Denavir a 1% white cream?

DENAVIR is available for topical administration as a 1% white cream. Each gram of DENAVIR contains 10 mg of penciclovir and the following inactive ingredients: cetostearyl alcohol, mineral oil, polyoxyl 20 cetostearyl ether, propylene glycol, purified water and white petrolatum.
