What is an electronic prescription?
An electronic prescription is a digital version of a paper prescription. They are a safe and convenient alternative to paper prescriptions. You can choose to receive an electronic prescription from your healthcare provider when you next need a prescription, or you can request for it to be sent to your Active Script List (ASL).
Is electronic prescribing still available?
Electronic prescribing is now widely available. It provides an option for prescribers and their patients to use an electronic prescription as an alternative to paper prescriptions. Paper prescriptions are still available.
How does electronic prescribing work?
Electronic prescribing allows prescribers to use legally conformant software systems to send patients a token for their prescription via SMS or email.
