Why is dolutegravir prescribed?
Why is this medication prescribed? Dolutegravir is used with other medications to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection in adults and children 4 weeks of age and older who weigh at least 6.6 lbs (3 kg).
What are the side effects of dolutegravir?
liver problems--nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, upper stomach pain, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes). Dolutegravir affects your immune system, which may cause certain side effects (even weeks or months after you've taken this medicine).
Does age affect the effects of dolutegravir?
Appropriate studies have not been performed on the relationship of age to the effects of dolutegravir in children younger than 4 weeks of age or weighing less than 3 kilograms (kg). Safety and efficacy have not been established. Use of dolutegravir tablet is not recommended in children weighing 3 to 14 kg.
What if I am allergic to dolutegravir?
