Fosamprenavir is an antiviral medicine that prevents human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) from multiplying in your body. Fosamprenavir is used to treat HIV, the virus that can cause acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Fosamprenavir is for use in adults and children who are at least 4 weeks old. fosamprenavir is not a cure for HIV or AIDS.

Does fosamprenavir cure HIV?

Fosamprenavir is in a class of medications called protease inhibitors. It works by decreasing the amount of HIV in the blood. Although fosamprenavir does not cure HIV, it may decrease your chance of developing acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and HIV-related illnesses such as serious infections or cancer.

Is fosamprenavir a ritonavir?

Fosamprenavir belongs to a class of drugs known as protease inhibitors. It may be given with ritonavir, another protease inhibitor, to increase ("boost") the levels of fosamprenavir. This helps fosamprenavir work better.Fosamprenavir is not a cure for HIV infection.
