Can rebetol be used alone?
Rebetol is not effective when used alone. This medicine must be used in combination with interferon alfa or peginterferon alfa. Rebetol is sometimes given to people taking other antiviral medications to treat hepatitis C. You should not use Rebetol if you have autoimmune hepatitis, severe kidney disease, or a hemoglobin blood cell disorder.

Rebetol belongs to a class of drugs called Hepatitis B /Hepatitis C Agents; RSV Agents. It is not known if Rebetol is safe and effective in children younger than 3 years of age.

What does rebetol contain?
Contents of the pack and other information What Rebetol contains - The active substance is ribavirin 200 mg. - The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate (40 mg), croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate. The capsule shell contains gelatine, titanium dioxide (E 171).

Rebetol must be used in combination with other medicinal products (see section 5.1). Please refer to the SmPC of (peg)interferon alfa for details on the recommendations of monitoring and management regarding the adverse reactions listed below before initiating therapy and other precautions associated with (peg)interferon alfa.
