Eczema is also called atopic dermatitis. It typically starts during infancy or early childhood and can persist into adulthood.

What causes eczema?

Common triggers that cause eczema include: Dry weather (low humidity). Fabrics or clothing material. Makeup or skin care products. Smoke and pollutants. Soaps and detergents. Stress or your emotional well-being. Touching something you’re allergic to.

How to treat eczema?

It is important to keep skin that is prone to eczema well moisturised every day: Moisturisers add moisture and form a barrier that protects the skin, so that it retains moisture. If the protective barrier of skin is damaged eczema frequently develops. Apply non-perfumed moisturiser to the face and body twice every day.

Where does eczema usually appear?

While it can appear anywhere, it is most common on the feet, ankles, hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders, neck and scalp. Nummular eczema: Scattered circular patches are often a sign of nummular eczema, also known as discoid eczema and nummular dermatitis.

What is Eczema? Eczema (eg-zuh-MUH) is the name for a group of inflammatory skin conditions that cause itchiness, dry skin, rashes, scaly patches, blisters and skin infections.
